About the role

An NDIS support worker plays a critical role in assisting individuals with disabilities to achieve their personal goals and live as independently as possible. The position involves providing direct support to participants by helping with daily tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, household duties, transportation, and social activities. You will also encourage community engagement, assist in skill development, and ensure the safety and well-being of participants. Additionally, you will work closely with families, healthcare professionals, and other service providers to ensure that the individual’s NDIS plan is being effectively implemented and that all needs are being met. This role requires compassion, patience, and strong communication skills to create a positive, supportive environment for participants.

Your primary responsibilities will include

  • Assist participants with daily personal care tasks, including dressing, grooming, and hygiene
  • Support individuals with mobility and physical assistance during activities of daily living
  • Help with meal preparation, nutrition, and feeding where necessary
  • Provide transportation to appointments, social events, and community activities
  • Support participants in managing and organizing their medications as per instructions
  • Encourage community involvement and social participation for personal development
  • Maintain accurate records of support provided, including documentation and case notes
  • Adhere to NDIS guidelines, policies, and regulations in all areas of service delivery
  • Foster independence by teaching daily living skills such as budgeting and cooking
  • Assist with housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment
  • Develop and implement individual care plans tailored to each participant’s needs
  • Monitor and report on participant progress, goals, and achievements
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants through risk management strategies
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to enhance participants’ mental well-being
  • Work collaboratively with family members, healthcare professionals, and other support workers
  • Incident reporting when required & follow the relative procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Compassionate individuals who have a genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with participants and their families
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the healthcare sector is highly desirable
  • Punctual, reliable, and committed to providing consistent and high-quality support to participants, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and professional manner
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other professionals
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the NDIS and its framework to deliver person-centered care
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

  • 100 Points of Identification
  • A valid Driver’s License and comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  • Full Australian working rights
  • An Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Your State’s Working with Children Check
  • Current national police check
  • Copies of relevant course certification
  • First Aid / CPR certificate
